Bayern Munich target denies contact with Bundesliga giants
The agent of Marco Verratti has denied Bayern Munich have made contact with the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder amid talks of a summer move.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be in the market for a new central midfielder in the summer when Xabi Alonso retires and the Bayern head coach has reportedly earmarked a reunion with Verratti ahead of next season.
The Italian manager struck up a good relationship with Verratti during his time as PSG boss and the duo are reportedly still in contact, although the 24-year-old’s agent, Donato Di Campli, has denied there has been an approach from the reigning Bundesliga champions.
“Many are thinking of him, but it’s hard to get him to leave Paris,” he told Sky Italia, via Get French Football. “He has a contract until 2021, he wants to respect. Marco wants to win, if possible in Paris. I have yet to get a call from Bayern, had they done so I would have told them to speak to PSG.”
Verratti has also been linked with a return to Italy this season with Juventus among the clubs chasing his signature, although the Italy international has previously been vocal about his commitment to the Ligue 1 champions, repeatedly stating his desire to win the Champions League with the club.
Only three players average more passes per game in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Verratti (88.9).
