Napoli star out for four months

Napoli’s hopes of challenging Juventus for the Serie A title have been dealt a huge blow after star striker Arkadiusz Milik suffered knee ligament damage on international duty with Poland.

Milik, 22, was signed by Napoli in the summer to help ease the burden following the departure of star striker Gonzalo Higuain to rivals Juventus.

The Poland international has started the season in breathtaking form but his national team have now confirmed he could require surgery that will keep him out for four months.

“A lesion to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee was spotted,” confirmed Polish Federation spokesman Jakub Kwiatowski, via Football Italia.

“Milik will return to Italy today and over the next few hours could have surgery.”
