Manchester City set to pip Chelsea in bid to land Brazilian

Manchester City look set to win the race to sign Chelsea target and former Juventus full-back Dani Alves, reports the Daily Mail. 

Alves is without a club following his release from Juventus and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. 

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte had been keen on bringing the experienced right-back to London, but Alves, who made the second most key passes in the Champions League last season (31), has supposedly agreed a two-year deal with City. 

A switch to City would see 34-year-old link up with Pep Guardiola once more, with the duo enjoying a fine relationship during their respective time at Barcelona. 

It is believed that Alves’ impending arrival won’t impact City’s pursuit of Tottenham’s Kyle Walker, who has been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium. 

City have already secured the services of Bernardo Silva and Ederson Moraes from Monaco and Benfica, respectively, this summer, while negotiations are still ongoing over Benjamin Mendy’s potential switch to Guardiola’s side. 

City are keen to strengthen at full-back this summer following the departures of Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy.
