RB Leipzig confirm Keita won’t move to Liverpool this month

RB Leipzig have confirmed that Naby Keita will remain at the Bundesliga side and will not be moving to Liverpool in January.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that the Reds will pay a premium on their current deal with the German outfit that would see the midfielder move to Anfield this month rather than wait until the summer.

The 22-year-old started and scored in the 3-1 win over Schalke on Saturday night, with some news outlets suggesting that was his final match for RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga outfit have since tweeted stating that Keita won’t be leaving this month and that he will remain an RB Leipzig player until the end of the season.

“OFFICIAL: Naby Keita will remain an RB Leipzig player until 30th June 2018. We wish to put speculation about a January move to Liverpool to bed,” the club tweeted out on their English Twitter account.

“We won’t allow Liverpool to sign him early, even though they have shown renewed interest to bring him in during his transfer window,” Ralf Rangnick is quoted as saying by a follow up tweet from their official account.
