Arsenal wantaway returns to training

Alexis Sanchez has returned to Arsenal training after being given an extended break to recover from the flu, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The Chile international was afforded more time off than his Arsenal team-mates following his participation in the Confederations Cup but it was delayed further after falling unwell over the weekend.

Sanchez has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal with Arsenal and is keen to reunite with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola this summer, although Arsene Wenger has already ruled out dealing with their direct rivals.

Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be interested in signing the 28-year-old but are currently focusing their efforts on signing Barcelona winger Neymar.

Sanchez was put through his paces on his own at Arsenal’s training ground on Tuesday but it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will really turn down the chance to make in the region of £50m or let the winger walk away for nothing at the end of the season.

The former Barcelona winger finished last season as the second highest rated player in the Premier League (7.76) after scoring 24 goals and registering 10 assists in 38 appearances.
