Swansea manager Bob Bradley has cooled suggestions he could sign his son Michael after claiming the move wouldn’t work.
Bradley, who was made Francesco Guidolin’s successor at the start of October, is expected to strengthen his Swansea side when the January transfer window opens and there have already been suggestions he could look to link up with his son.
Michael Bradley has spent the last three years with Toronto after completing a move from Roma in 2014 and helped John Gibbons’ side move into the MLS Cup Final with a 5-2 win over Montreal Impact earlier this week.
The 29-year-old’s current deal is due to expire in 2019 but there had been suggestions he would join his father’s side in January, although Bob Bradley has since quashed those claims.
“We’ve not discussed that one,” Bradley told The Front 3 Football podcast, via ESPN. “Michael is obviously completely focused on the second leg against Montreal in the hope of helping Toronto to an MLS Cup final.
“There would be so many parts of that discussion, it’s not something that in the moment has been discussed at all. Toronto was a big challenge. It’s not been an easy situation, but they’ve made progress every year, and I know how committed and how motivated he is – and how excited he is – about the opportunity they have.
“So in the moment, I’m excited for him. You know – we’ve had moments where our football paths have crossed, but at the same time it doesn’t always work out either. So I would highly doubt it’s the kind of thing that fits well at the moment.”
Swansea have only won two of their 13 league matches and are two points adrift of safety, with reinforcements desperately needed to avoid the drop.
In MLS this season Bradley has averaged more passes per game than any other player in the competition (73).
