Moussa Sissoko has denied ever reaching personal terms with Everton before eventually joining Tottenham on deadline day.
Tottenham signed Sissoko for a joint club-record £30m in the final moments of the transfer window but there had been reports suggesting the London outfit had hi-jacked Everton’s deal.
However, Sissoko has denied those suggestions and was always waiting to sign for Tottenham.
“I never went to Everton,” Sissoko told L’Equipe, via Sky Sports. “It’s funny. I was watching TV, and I saw that a deal had been done with Everton and that I had signed for them.
“But I was in London, waiting to sign my contract [with Spurs].”
Sissoko particularly excelled in the final two matches of Euro 2016, where he finished the tournament with the third most dribbles (18).
