Kane eases fears over contract delay

Harry Kane has cooled speculation of a potential exit from Tottenham and insists he wants to stay at the club for a ‘long, long time’.

Tottenham are understood to have hit a roadblock in discussions with their star striker about a contract renewal, with Kane reportedly demanding in excess of £100,000-a-week to commit his long-term future to the club – a claim he has denied.

Their self-imposed wage structure doesn’t allow for a single player to earn above six figures a week and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring talks, but Kane is confident a compromise can be made and a new deal agreed.

“I’m happy at the club,” the London Evening Standard quote Kane as saying after Spurs’ dramatic 3-2 win over rivals West Ham. “A lot of people are going to speculate about contracts but I am happy – you saw me out there [on Saturday].

“There’s not many better feelings than being at White Hart Lane and scoring in a London derby. So yeah, I am happy at the club and want to be here for a long, long time.

“We are in talks and I’m sure we will get something sorted. I’m not panicking and I’m not demanding anything as I’ve read in the paper.

“We’re having a conversation and I have no doubts that we will get it sored. As I say, I want to be here for a long time and I am sure I will be.”

Kane eases fears over contract delay

Tottenham have benefitted from Kane’s return from a lengthy injury lay-off and the England international was on hand to score a dramatic late brace, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side came from 2-1 down with two minutes remaining to win 3-2 on Saturday.

Kane has now scored 18 goals in 22 London derby appearances and has scored three of Tottenham’s last four goals.
