Tuchel contacted as Chelsea ready replacement for Conte
Reports in Germany from Sport Bild have claimed that Chelsea have contacted Thomas Tuchel with a view to replacing Antonio Conte as the club’s new manager.
The suggestion comes as a huge shock following on from the Blues’ 2-1 win over rivals Tottenham at the weekend, with the Italian having secured the Premier League title in his first season at the Stamford Bridge helm.
The piece claims that Roman Abramovich and Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia are still not entirely happy with the former Juventus boss, who is known to be frustrated at being priced out of the market for some of his top targets this summer.
Granovskaia, a close confident to the owner, is key to the club’s reported interest in Tuchel having been disappointed with the way in which Conte has dealt with certain situations.
She has reportedly identified the German as the ideal replacement, although the former BVB boss left that job due to disagreements with the board over transfers too.
That said, Tuchel is still regarded as one of the top young coaches on the continent, leading a very youthful side to the Champions League quarter-finals last season, and employing a vastly different tactical approach to that of Conte.
