Lyon have made a €12m (£10.5m) move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez, according to RMC, via Get French Football.
Hernandez, who became Mexico’s all-time record goalscorer this weekend, has been heavily linked with a move away from Leverkusen this summer and there is reportedly a growing acceptance from the club that they are willing to listen to offers for their star striker.
Jose Mourinho has already revealed on a few occasions that he would never have sold Hernandez if he was Manchester United manager in 2015, which has fuelled suggestions the Red Devils could make a move to re-sign their former striker.
However, Lyon, who need to find a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, are looking to pip their European rivals to his signature and are waiting to see whether their bid for the 28-year-old is successful.
In the last two Bundesliga seasons only Robert Lewandowski (60), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (56) and Anthony Modeste (40) have scored more goals than Hernandez (28).
