Chelsea seek Asmir Begovic replacement before sanctioning Bournemouth deal

Bournemouth will only sign Asmir Begovic from Chelsea if Antonio Conte’s side can sign a replacement before the transfer window closes in over a week’s time, reports The Guardian.

Eddie Howe’s side have been in talks to sign Begovic from Chelsea for the last week as they seek an upgrade to Arthur Boruc for the remainder of the current campaign.

Begovic, who joined Chelsea from Stoke for £8m in 2015, has barely featured for the Blues this season and is only likely to feature as long as Conte’s side remain in the FA Cup.

Chelsea turned down Bournemouth’s opening £10m offer for the 29-year-old and Conte has already admitted he wants the Bosnia international to stay at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season, although he will not stand in the goalkeeper’s way if he seeks first-team football.

However, Chelsea will only allow the former Stoke shotstopper to join Bournemouth if a replacement is found, with Diego Lopez and Tim Krul among the goalkeepers on Conte’s radar.

Begovic has made four appearances for Chelsea this season and has not kept a clean sheet in any of those appearances.
