Former Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has played down talk of a potential move to China and hinted he could retire at the end of the season.
Tevez is wanted by new Shanghai Shenhua head coach Gus Poyet, who was named Gregorio Manzano’s successor at the end of November.
The 32-year-old striker has spent the last 16 months with boyhood club Boca Juniors after leaving Juventus and is contracted to the Argentinean giants until 2018.
However, Tevez has moved to cool reports of an impending move to China, while revealing he is thinking of retirement.
“I’ve got too much of a muddle in my head to think if in February or March I’m going off to play in China,” Tevez told Spanish newspaper Ole, via talkSPORT.
“I don’t just think about leaving, I could also retire. When the year is over I’ll see what’s best.”
After 12 matches Boca are only two points behind Estudiantes at the top of the Primera Division, with Tevez central to their taking back the league title they won in 2015.
Tevez has been in fine form of late for Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s side of late having played a direct hand in six goals in his last six matches (five assists, one goal. In fact, no player has registered more assists in the league this season than Tevez (5).
