Everton enter race for Arsenal target Zaha

Everton are keen on signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and will hold talks with their Premier League rivals this week, claims Sky Sports.

Zaha has told Palace he wants to leave the club for the second time in his career and has his heart set on joining Arsenal.

Palace have slapped an £80m price tag on Zaha’s head this summer and so far Arsenal’s offer of £40m fell well short of their eye-watering valuation.

Arsenal simply do not have the budget to match Palace’s demands and as things stand it is unlikely Zaha will end up moving to the Emirates.

It has now emerged Everton are ready to enter the race for the Ivory Coast international, though Zaha has made it clear he wants to join a team that can offer European football.

Everton were linked with a move for £70m-rated Lille star Nicolas Pepe earlier in the summer but Marco Silva’s side appear to have shifted their focus to Zaha.

Nevertheless, Palace have no interest in cutting their valuation of Zaha due to the fact Manchester United are entitled to a slice of the money.

United included a sell-on clause in Zaha’s move back to Palace in 2015 and refused to remove in when they signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £50m earlier this summer.

Zaha, who as developed into one of the best players outside the Premier League’s top-six in the last few years, also has four years left to run on his existing contract.

The 26-year-old finished last season with 10 goals in a Premier League campaign for the first time in his career and ranked second for dribbles completed in the division (114).
