Luke Shaw to quit Manchester United in summer

Luke Shaw is likely to leave Manchester United in the summer after another coming to blows with manager Jose Mourinho, claims The Times.

Mourinho hauled the 22-year-old off at half-time in United’s 2-0 win over Brighton in Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final clash before criticising his performance in his post-match news conference.

The United boss admitted he could have substituted either full-back but opted for Shaw as Antonio Valencia was at least defending competently on the opposite flank.

Shaw looked to have turned a corner under Mourinho earlier this year when the United boss proclaimed the youngster as the best left-back in the country at the end of January.

However, the former Southampton defender has only started four matches in all competitions since then and his Old Trafford misery finally looks to be nearing its conclusion.

Shaw’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season after United triggered their option to a further 12 months earlier this year, with Tottenham favourites to sign the defender.

Mauricio Pochettino brought the best out of Shaw during their time at Southampton and a reunion appears a natural fit for the talented youngster.

Interestingly, United have not conceded a goal in Shaw’s last 751 minutes of playing time.
