West Ham manager hints at summer move for Liverpool outcast

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has hinted the club could move for out of favour Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge at the end of the season.

Sturridge is widely expected to leave Liverpool this summer after dropping down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.

The 27-year-old has returned to first-team training but is carrying a hip injury and may have already played his final game for Liverpool.

West Ham are expected to be busy once again this summer as they look to bounce back from a thoroughly disappointing campaign this season and Bilic has hinted at a potential move for Sturridge.

“When he is on fire, he is a great player. We are going to see. We have our list of strikers. If you go back two or three seasons he was unbelievable,” The Daily Mail quote Bilic as saying.

“He plays very rarely but I watched Stoke against Liverpool. He came on and, with a couple of passes, he broke their defence. So of course he is showing that when he plays, but he plays very rarely.”

Sturridge has only started five Premier League games this season and has struggled to remain fit during Klopp’s time at the club. In fact, he has only played 22.7% of the minutes available in the Premier League under the German.
