Chelsea and Tottenham in competition for Atletico Madrid winger
Chelsea and Tottenham are keen to sign Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar on loan for the remainder of the campaign, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone has lost patience with his €60m (£52.7m) signing and wants to offload the France international this month.
Lemar has failed to make any significant impact at Atletico since his high profile arrival from Monaco in the summer of 2018.
A number of European clubs, including London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea, are keen to sign the 24-year-old but Atletico's demands are a major stumbling block.
Atletico are happy to loan Lemar out for the second half of the season but want to recoup almost all of their investment in the summer.
As Lemar's stock has tumbled in the last 18 months, few clubs, if any, are willing to commit to a deal that includes a clause to make his switch permanent for more than £50m.
Lemar has made 15 league appearances for Atletico this season and is yet to score or assist for the Rojiblancos.
