Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier will appeal his two-month prison sentence.
Aurier, 23, was given a two-month custodial sentence by the French court after allegedly elbowing a policeman in the throat outside a nightclub on the Champs Elysees.
The Ivory Coast international has also been fined €600 (£521) for the altercation and a further €1,500 to cover court costs, although his lawyer says they will appeal Aurier’s sentence.
“We’re appealing,” The Guardian quote Claire Boutard de la Combe as saying. “Mr Aurier contests the findings. He’s not guilty and must be acquitted.
Only Angel Di Maria (3) and Lucas Moura (1.4) average more key passes per game for PSG in Ligue 1 this season than Aurier (1.3).
