Barcelona’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Real Madrid was arguably one of the results of the weekend across Europe’s top five leagues. They were even 3-0 up before they decided to throw Lionel Messi into the action, such their dominance in the game at the Santiago Bernabéu. But which quartet of players made it into the WhoScored La Liga team of the week?
Luis Enrique’s men based most of their attacks down their left flank (42%) against Madrid, which is highlighted by the inclusion of Jordi Alba, Andres Iniesta and Neymar in the La Liga team of the week. The partnership of the latter was particularly destructive on Saturday evening. In fact, no player completed more dribbles than Iniesta (4), with Neymar a close second (3).
Neymar, on the other hand, created at least three more chances than any other player on the pitch (6). Both players got on the scoresheet and Luis Suarez, who bagged a brace in the rout, joined them. The former Liverpool striker netted with two of his three shots on target and also created another opportunity for a teammate.
