Real Madrid eye £100m move for Manchester United star

Real Madrid are confident of signing David de Gea from Manchester United in a £100m deal this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The European champions are long-term admirers of De Gea and accept they will have to shatter a world record fee for a goalkeeper to sign him.

United have made securing De Gea’s long-term future a priority this summer but the fact they have so far been unsuccessful will give Madrid confidence.

Jose Mourinho has previously ruled out De Gea’s departure this summer, but Madrid are prepared to make a club-record move for the 26-year-old.

Former Spain head coach Julen Lopetegui will become Madrid boss after the World Cup and that will only encourage Florentino Perez that a deal can be made.
