Aston Villa have made an enquiry for Angers captain Cheikh Ndoye, according to Foot 365, via Get French Football.
Ndoye, 30, was reportedly keen to move to England in the January transfer window last season but was convinced to stay with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The Senegal international has previously been linked with a move to West Brom and Stoke and is likely to favour a move to the Premier League over the Championship with a final decision on his future expected to be made late into the transfer window.
No player has won more aerial duels in the last two Ligue 1 seasons than Ndoye (232).
