Arsenal to hand Chelsea and Manchester City target a new deal
Arsenal want to hand Jack Wilshere a new long-term deal as Chelsea and Manchester City monitor talks, reports The Daily Mail.
Wilshere’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and there has been some uncertainty whether the Gunners would look to keep the injury-prone midfielder.
The England international missed the start of the season with a broken leg but Wilshere has thoroughly impressed since returning from injury.
Arsene Wenger has even suggested Wilshere is playing his best football in years and now the north London outfit are expected to sit down with his representatives in the next few weeks and thrash out a new contract.
The Gunners are poised to lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil for nothing in the summer and losing Wilshere on a free would be another major blow for Wenger’s side.
Chelsea and City are interested in securing the 25-year-old’s signature and will monitor his future closely with a view to moving for the gifted midfielder if contract talks with Arsenal breakdown.
Wilshere made his first Premier League appearance of the season during Arsenal’s 5-2 win over Everton on Sunday and even registered an assist during his 13-minute cameo.
