Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not considered selling summer signing Fabinho and is baffled by claims suggesting otherwise, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds splashed out in excess of £40m to sign Fabinho from Monaco in the summer but the Brazil international has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting Liverpool would look to cash-in on Juventus and AC Milan’s reported interest in Fabinho in January to fund a blockbuster move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic.
Fabinho had to wait until mid-September to make his full Liverpool debut in a League Cup defeat to Chelsea and the 25-year-old has only started three Premier League matches.
However, those reports could not be further from the truth, as Fabinho remains a key part of Klopp’s long-term vision at Anfield.
Liverpool are also not interested in making a January move for Pulisic, but the United States international is rated highly by Klopp.
Dortmund have already ruled out a mid-season sale of the Chelsea target but will have to sell the 20-year-old in the summer if they fail to agree a new contract before then.
Pulisic will only have 12 months to run on his existing Dortmund contract at the end of the season and Liverpool will likely be at the top of Pulisic’s list of potential next destinations.
Klopp was Dortmund manager when Pulisic joined the Bundesliga club in 2015 and Liverpool reportedly even had an £11m bid knocked back during Klopp’s first summer at the club.
Pulisic has become something of a forgotten man at Dortmund this season following the emergence of former Manchester City youngster Jadon Sancho.
Despite dropping down the pecking order, Pulisic has still completed the most dribbles in the Bundesliga since the start of last season (90).
