Barcelona activate buy-back clause on Spain U21 international

Barcelona have decided to activate the €3.25m (£2.57m) buy-back clause in Denis Suarez’s Villarreal contract, according to Sport, via 101 Great Goals.

Suarez, 22, only joined Villarreal from Barcelona last summer but his impressive campaign has forced Luis Enrique’s side to re-sign the creative forward as they look to strengthen their offensive options for next season.

Barcelona failed to bring the Spain Under-21 international back to the Camp Nou in January after Villarreal refused the deal.

The Yellow Submarines are now entitled to 50 per cent of any transfer fee that Barcelona recoup for Suarez next year and that would drop down to 25 per cent the year after.

No Villarreal player has created more chances in La Liga this season than Suarez (44).
