Chelsea target Spurs defender

Chelsea are keen on Tottenham and Wales defender Ben Davies in a bid to boost their homegrown quota, reports the Sun on Sunday.

The 23-year-old has started Spurs’ last two competitive games due to injury to Danny Rose and is expected to feature from the off against Sunderland on Sunday.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is supposedly a fan of Davies, while his arrival would boost the number of homegrown players required.

The Welshman’s versatility is also a trait that Conte favours, with Davies performing well for Wales in a three-man defence at Euro 2016.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will demand at least £20m for Davies, which could prove to be a sticking point after Chelsea paid £20m to secure the services of Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina on deadline day.
