Paris Saint-Germain plot Porto raid for €60m-rated midfielder
Paris Saint-Germain have turned their attentions to signing Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira, reports L’Equipe.
The Ligue 1 giants aren’t interested in reigning in their summer spending following the world record arrival of Neymar and are now looking to wrap up deals for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, as well as Danilo from Porto.
PSG are looking to sell Blaise Matuidi and Grzegorz Krychowiak this summer and Unai Emery wants to sign Danilo as cover for their impending departures, although they are interested in triggering his reported €60m (£54m) release clause.
Juventus reportedly had a €30m (£27.2m) bid for the 25-year-old turned down earlier this summer, and while the message out of Paris is that Emery’s side can still afford to pay his release clause despite spending £193m on Neymar, they hope to use Antero Henrique’s link with the club to lower the asking price.
Henrique left Porto to become PSG’s new sporting director at the end of last summer and is looking to mastermind the arrival of Mbappe following Neymar’s blockbuster switch from Barcelona last week.
Danilo, who came through Benfica’s academy, has spent the last two years at Porto after joining from Portuguese rivals Maritimo in 2015. Since the start of last season in the Portuguese Liga NOS campaigns, only two players have won possession in the middle third more times than Danilo (157).
