Chelsea interested in signing highly rated West Ham midfielder
Chelsea are interested in signing Declan Rice from West Ham this summer, reports Sky Sports.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is looking to secure another holding midfielder when the transfer window opens and the former England international is a keen admirer of his compatriot.
Rice has a good friendship with current Chelsea attacker Mason Mount, which would be a boost in any possible move for the West Ham star.
Of course, the Hammers are eager to rebuff any attempts to sign of their hot prospects, but are aware that there is hefty interest in Rice.
Indeed, Manchester United have previously courted the 21-year-old and they may yet rival Chelsea in any race to sign Rice.
West Ham, though, can rest easy that Rice has four years left on his current deal, so they aren't presently in a position that means they have to cash in on the youngster.
However, it remans to be seen when a deal could be done, with all football currently postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic currently gripping the world.
Rice impressed prior to the suspension having made more tackles (87) than any other player aged 21 and under in the Premier League this season.
