Santiago Ascacibar in talks with Serie A clubs, says agent

The agent of highly rated Argentine Santiago Ascacibar has revealed they are in talks with clubs in Europe’s top leagues with a view to making a summer switch.

Ascacibar has been one of the most impressive players in the Argentine Primeira Division since breaking into the Estudiantes first team in 2016.

The 20-year-old represented Argentina at the 2016 Olympics and could now be on the cusp of a move to Europe after his agent revealed talks with clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany.

“He is a complete midfielder, both when defending and building moves going forward,” his agent, Facundo Fraga, told Calciomercato, via Football Italia.

“We have been in contact with several Serie A clubs, but I cannot reveal their names, especially as right now it is only sounding out the situation rather than any real offers.

“The same is true of clubs in Germany and Spain, where we registered interest in Santiago.”
