Lyon ace set for Bayern Munich medical

Bayern Munich are expected to announce the arrival of Corentin Tolisso after agreeing a €40m (£35.2m) deal with Lyon, reports BILD.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have already signed former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry from Werder Bremen this summer but are now on course to make their first major splash in the transfer window with Tolisso due to undergo his Bayern medical on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the past but will now join Bayern in a deal that could equal their club-transfer record when they shelled out €40m to sign Javi Martinez from Athletic Club in 2012.

Tolisso will reportedly put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will run until 2022 and the transfer could be announced as early as today after the central midfielder has completed his medical.

The arrival of the France international will raise serious question marks about the future of Renato Sanches, who only joined Bayern from Benfica in a deal worth an initial £27.5m last summer in the wake of his tremendous Euro 2016 campaign.

No Lyon player averaged more passes per game in Ligue 1 last season than Tolisso (65.4), while the Lyon No.8 also weighed in with eight goals and five assists in 31 league appearances last term.
