Wolfsburg have announced they will be without Bas Dost for six to eight weeks after the striker broke his metatarsal in training.
Dost sustained the injury in a tackle with teammate Dante during Wolfsburg’s winter training camp in Lagos.
The Netherlands international will now undergo surgery before sitting out for up to two months, which leaves him a major doubt for Wolfsburg’s Champions League last 16 second leg against Gent in March.
Dost’s injury will come as a big blow for Wolfsburg head coach Dieter Hecking, who will now have to do without his top goalscorer for a crucial period in the season.
In fact, the Wolfsburg striker has scored at least two more goals than any of his teammates in the Bundesliga this season (7).
