Manchester City have moved a step closer to sign Schalke starlet Leroy Sane after the Bundesliga outfit confirmed he has handed in a transfer request.
Sane, 20, has been heavily linked with a £42m move to City all summer after being earmarked as a top transfer target by Pep Guardiola.
The Schalke winger is regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe and Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed Sane has asked to leave the club this summer.
“Leroy has made it clear, he would like to leave this summer,” Heidel is quoted as saying by The Sun. “We will consent to a transfer if Schalke’s conditions are met.”
Sane completed more dribbles than any other player in the Bundesliga last season (91).
