Spaniard’s Barcelona release clause increased

Sergi Roberto’s release clause in his Barcelona contract has been increased to €40m (£31.5m) after triggering an appearance clause in his deal.

The Spanish utility player has been a dependable player in a variety of positions for Luis Enrique this season, having featured in 30 league appearances spread across four different positions.

Roberto, 24, still has three years left to run on his current deal but any potential suitor will now have to fork out in excess of £30m following an increase in his buy-out clause.
