West Ham announced fifth signing of the summer

West Ham have announced they have made their fifth signing of the summer after wrapping up a deal to sign talented teenager Sead Haksabanovic from Swedish side Halmstads BK.

Haksabanovic, 18, became the second-youngest player in Allsvenskan league history in April 2015 and was previously linked with a move to a number of clubs across Europe.

The Montenegro international has put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will run until June 2022 and has hailed the move to West Ham as a dream come true.

“I’m really happy to be here – it’s a dream come true,” Haksabanovic told the club’s official website. “West Ham is a big club and it is a nice feeling to have signed.

“The move happened quite fast – we heard that they wanted me, so I was interested to hear the plan for me and when I did I was very pleased.

“I am an attacking player, I like to dribble and shoot, but I work hard for the team. I am really looking forward to getting started, I have watched quite a few West Ham games in the Premier League and I can see that they have some great player and great fans.

“Now I just want to get used to being with the team and then hopefully play some games at some point next season.”

The Hammers have now signed five players this summer having already brought Javier Hernandez, Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic to the club.

Haksabanovic, who can play out wide and through the middle, featured in all 18 of Halmstads’ league games prior to his move to West Ham. The Swedish side are currently second from bottom in the Allsvenskan, while Haksabanovic has attempted more shots from outside the box than any other player in the division (39).
