West Brom sign Liverpool target

West Brom have announced they have triggered their option to sign Ahmed Hegazi for an undisclosed fee on a deal until 2022.

Hegazi joined West Brom on an initial season-long loan deal from Al Ahly in the summer but has impressed beyond expectations since then.

The Egypt international has even been linked with a move to Liverpool since making his debut back in August and the Baggies have moved to secure his permanent future before the January transfer window.

“This is great news for the club - Ahmed has been absolutely terrific for me since I arrived and I am sure there is even more to come from him in the future,” West Brom manager Alan Pardew told the club’s official website.

“He is one of the players we can build around on the road ahead. He has a big role to play and it is good for the player and the club to remove any doubts and make the transfer permanent. I am sure it is something the supporters will also welcome.”

The 26-year-old has started every game for the Baggies in the Premier League this season and won three of the five WhoScored Man of the Match awards West Brom have picked up in that time.

In fact, only Burnley's James Tarkowski (4) has picked up the award more times than Hegazi of all defenders in the Premier League this season.
