Inter boss to speak to Manchester United target about summer exit
Inter head coach Luciano Spalletti insists he wants to keep hold of Ivan Perisic this season but will speak with the Manchester United target about his future this week.
United have earmarked the signing of Perisic as one of their top priorities this summer and have reportedly already had several bids for the Croatia international rejected.
The Serie A giants are adamant they will not sell Perisic for anything less than £50m this summer and had reportedly set United an ultimatum to match their valuation by the end of June.
However, Jose Mourinho’s side are still hopeful of signing the 28-year-old and should know whether they have a chance of landing the winger after Spalletti finds out his intentions.
“I will speak to everyone and clearly for those who are ‘distracted’ there will be different words,” Football Italia quote Spalletti as saying at a pre-season press conference.
“I will listen to him [Perisic], I have no doubts: I am counting on him, but we’ll have to understand his intentions. It would not be nice for me to hear him say words like: ‘I want to leave.’ We’ll see.
“You keep talking about Perisic and his desire to leave, but first I need to listen to his own words and then we’ll decide how to act. In any case, I will say this: we are Inter and we can opt to make different decisions compared to ideas of the players. I hope to have him in the side, I am counting on it and I am positive in that sense.”
Perisic has just enjoyed his best ever season as a professional after playing a direct hand in 19 goals in 36 league appearances (11 goals, eight assists). In Serie A last season only four players completed more crosses than the Inter No.44 (36).
