Wolves keen on Espanyol striker Wui Lei

Wolves are monitoring the future of Espanyol striker Wui Lei with a view to a move at the end of the season, claims Marca.

The Premier League outfit got a closer look at the China international during their Europa League victory over Espanyol earlier in the season.

Wolves defeated Espanyol 6-3 over the two legs of their round of 32 tie in which Lei featured in both matches.

Espanyol created a real buzz after signing Lei from the Chinese Super League in January 2019, where Lei had been a prolific striker for two straight seasons.

Lei netted 47 goals across his final 57 league matches for Shanghai SIPG to earn a high profile move to Europe.

While Lei has failed to replicate anywhere close to the same goalscoring form in his 18 months in Spain, Wolves sense a cut-price deal could be on the table this summer.

Espanyol will resume the 2019/20 LaLiga campaign bottom of the table and six points from safety with just four wins from 27 matches.

Since joining Espanyol, Lei has managed just six goals in 38 league appearances and would serve as back-up to Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota at Wolves next season.
