Sevilla close to agreeing new deal for Arsenal target

Sevilla have made a breakthrough in their negotiations with Grzegorz Krychowiak and are close to extending the midfielders stay at the club, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Discussions had hit a snag, but Sevilla have agreed to lower his proposed release clause to €45m (£32.4m) and the Poland international is expected to sign on the dotted lines in the near future.

The defensive midfielder still has three years left to his current deal, but this new contract would see him extend his stay at Roman Sanchez Pizjuan until 2020.

Krychowiak has previously been mooted as an Arsenal target and has moved to lower his release clause to keep his options open in the future.

The 25-year-old’s combative nature in front of the midfield is a characteristic that many have thought Arsenal have been lacking in recent years. In fact, only four players have completed more tackles and interceptions combined than Krychowiak in La Liga this season (57).
