Everton have categorically ruled out Morgan Schneiderlin’s departure before Wednesday’s transfer deadline following late interest from West Ham, claims Sky Sports.
West Ham manager David Moyes has been looking to bolster his midfield options all month and successfully managed that after signing Joao Mario on loan from Inter.
The Hammers expressed an interest in signing Schneiderlin from Everton on Monday and made it clear they were even willing to spend £20m for the Frenchman, but Sam Allardyce does not want to sell.
Selling Schneiderlin would leave Everton short in central midfield as they are already without James McCarthy for the remainder of the season after the Ireland international broke his leg earlier this month.
Schneiderlin has started eight of Everton’s last nine matches in all competitions but has struggled to rediscover his best form for the Toffees since joining from Manchester United over 12 months ago.
The 28-year-old’s career has drifted ever since he left Southampton to move to Old Trafford in 2015 having previously established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League.
Since making his debut for Everton in January 2017, Everton have lost 50% of the Premier League matches he hasn’t started compared to just 28.6% of the games he has featured in from the off.
