The Mirror report that Manchester United are set to rekindle their longstanding interest in Gareth Bale, while also making a move for Espanyol defender Aaron Martin.
Real Madrid are reportedly now ready to offload their former world record signing after Bale has encountered numerous injury problems in recent years.
Los Blancos seem to be losing patience with the Welshman, who hasn’t been able to recreate his best form due to the stop start nature of his appearances in the team.
The former Spurs star has made just five league appearances this season and has started less than half of Real Madrid’s league matches since the start of the 2015/16 campaign.
Mourinho, however, remains keen to bring Bale to Old Trafford having tried and failed to bolster his options out wide during the summer.
Manchester United are also hoping to lure Espanyol man Martin to the club, though they face competition from local rivals City and Napoli according to the Mirror.
Luke Shaw’s future at the club remains in doubt and finding a new first choice left-back is a priority, with the 20-year-old Spaniard seemingly at the top of the list.
