Manchester United receive double boost in pursuit of new left-back
According to the Manchester Evening News via reports in Italy, Manchester United have been given the all clear to make a move for Juventus defender Alex Sandro.
Calciomercato claim that the Red Devils will not face any competition for the Brazilian’s signature from Chelsea, who were credited with a strong interest in the left-back’s services all summer.
However, the Blues will not be baulking to the Italian champions demands this summer, with the Old Lady willing to sell if they received their asking price, believed to be in the region of £53m.
Juventus president Beppe Moratta confirmed in an interview with RAI Sport that, “The policy of Juventus is that if a player asks us to leave, we will not hold him back. On Alex Sandro, we know of the interest from big clubs, but at the moment we have not engaged in any negotiations.”
Manchester United are known to be on the lookout for a new left-back despite the impressive form of Ashley Young and presence of fellow England international Luke Shaw.
Sandro, 26, has been a key player in Turin since his arrival from Porto, offering a great attacking threat from left wing-back, with six goals and ten assists in 62 league appearances.
Why would anyone leave a better team and Torino for a boring team in Manchester? Money isn't everything, especially if you already have more than you can spend in a livetime!
