Manchester United starlet Greenwood to land bumper new deal

Manchester United will reward Mason Greenwood with a new £40,000-a-week contract for his stunning breakthrough season, claims The Sun.

Greenwood only inked a five-year deal worth £25,000-a-week in October but has since emerged as a first-team regular for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The 18-year-old used the period of isolation to bulk up and came out of lockdown firing on all cylinders for United to boost their chances of a top four finish in the league.

Greenwood has remarkably scored 16 goals in all competitions this season and needs just one more goal to equal the club-record for most goals scored by a teenager in a single campaign.

United are now looking to hand the teenage sensation fresh terms, including a huge wage hike, to reflect his growing importance to the first-team set-up.

Greenwood's emergence in recent weeks has even led to some suggestions United no longer need to spend in the region of £100m to sign Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho to fill that right wing berth.

Of players that have started at least five Premier League games post-lockdown (excluding substitute appearances), Greenwood is impressively one of the top-10 WhoScored rated players (7.70).
