Newcastle and Burnley interested in £18m La Liga creator

Burnley and Newcastle are two of the Premier League clubs interested in signing €20m (£17.8m) rated Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Viera has been a revelation for Las Palmas over the last three years but will be allowed to leave the Spanish side if their valuation is met.

Las Palmas are currently rock bottom of La Liga but Viera, statistically speaking, is having his best ever campaign in Spain and that has put Newcastle and Burnley on red alert for his services.

Both Premier League clubs are in the market to bolster their offensive options this month, although Burnley are more financially stable at the moment and would have to be favoured in the race for the 28-year-old.

Robbie Brady’s season-ending injury means Sean Dyche will certainly sign another attacker for Burnley this month with Viera and Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie on his list of potential targets.

The Spain international has played a direct hand in 38 goals in 83 La Liga appearances for Las Palmas (19 goals, 19 assists).

This season, only Lionel Messi (95) has completed more dribbles than Viera (55), while the Las Palmas star has created the most goalscoring chances (50) in the division.
