Liverpool to battle Arsenal for Mexico sensation

Liverpool are battling with Arsenal in the race to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Mexican forward Hirving Lozano, according to the Daily Star.

Lozano, who is commonly referred to as ‘Chucky’, has been in flying form for the Eredivisie title contenders having scored 11 and registered four assists in 16 league appearances this season.

The 22-year-old has been courted by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as a potential successor for Alexis Sanchez, who has been linked with a January move away from the Emirates Stadium.

Alexis is a long-term target for Manchester City, who failed with a deadline day move for the Chilean as the Gunners were unable to land a replacement for the 29-year-old.

However, Arsenal may not have a straight shot at Lozano, with Liverpool also considering a £42m move for the Mexico international.
