Real Madrid have told Juventus they intend on activating the buy-back clause in Alvaro Morata’s contract by the end of June, claims La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Espana.
Zinedine Zidane’s side sold Morata to Juventus in July 2014 but retained an option to re-sign the Spain international for an agreed €30m (£23.07m).
Juventus will be reluctant to lose the 23-year-old but are ultimately powerless in this situation and Madrid have now informed the Serie A champions that they will match the clause this month.
Arsenal and Chelsea have been regularly linked with a move for Morata and Madrid will reportedly look to immediately sell the young striker on for a huge profit, although they could now look to sell Morata back to Juventus in a deal that would see Paul Pogba move to the European champions.
Morata is currently on duty with Spain at Euro 2016 and is the joint-second top goalscorer in the competition (2), one behind Gareth Bale (3).
