Liverpool consider move for Manchester United outcast

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Burnley centre-back Michael Keane, according to The Daily Mail.

Keane has been hugely impressive for Burnley this season and his performances have even earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad this season.

The 24-year-old failed to make a name for himself at Manchester United before being sold to Burnley and now the Clarets are bracing themselves for a summer of huge interest in the centre-back.

Everton and Leicester have previously been the sides most strongly linked with a move for Keane but both could now face competition from Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp keen to bolster his defensive options in the summer.

Only Steve Cook (181) and Ben Mee (160) have completed more headed clearances in the Premier League this season than Keane (155).
