Deschamps set to call up Premier League signing of the season
France head coach Didier Deschamps is set to reward Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante’s startling season with a call-up to the national squad for their upcoming friendlies, according to L’Equipe.
Kante, 25, has only became a professional football in the last three years and arrived as a relative unknown quantity to most Premier League fans when Leicester paid Caen £5.6m last summer.
The French midfielder’s performances at the heart of Leicester’s midfield have been colossal and a huge reason behind why Claudio Ranieri’s side are five points clear at the top of the Premier League with nine games remaining.
Kante’s tireless running and ability to break down opposition attacks time and time again is an invaluable trait for a central midfielder and his performances have seemingly gone down well with Deschamps, who is set to call up the Leicester midfielder into his upcoming squad for fixtures against the Netherlands and Russia later this month.
Indeed, no player across Europe’s top five leagues this season has completed more tackles and interceptions combined than Kante (247).
