Tottenham to rival Manchester United for new centre-back

Tottenham have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Ben Godfrey from newly promoted Norwich, claims The Daily Mail.

Godfrey has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent months after impressing for Championship winners Norwich.

Norwich will be desperate to hold on to the 21-year-old as they plan for life back in the Premier League next season.

Both Tottenham and United are keen on the England Under-20 international and the former believe the centre-back is also capable of playing central midfield.

The English defender knows he is guaranteed regular playing time at Norwich next season, which would not be the case at either United or Tottenham.

Godfrey impressively weighed in with four goals and two assists in Norwich’s title-winning campaign last term.

Of players to make more than 30 appearances in the Championship last season, Godfrey had the best pass success rate (89.7%).
