Southampton have completed a deal for Twente defender Cuco Martina on a two-year deal.
Ronaldo Koeman's side are still looking to pursue legal action if top target Toby Alderweireld were to make a move to Tottenham but are still looking to bolster their defensive ranks following the departure of Nathaniel Clyne.
Versatile 25-year old Martina played at both right and centre-back in Eredivisie last season and may act as a back-up to fellow new signing Cedric Soares.
The defender had the second most playing time (2822 minutes) of any Twente player last season, averaging 50.1 passes per game but was only able to garner a rating of 6.69 from WhoScored, performing significantly better when deployed at heart of the defence (7.06 rating from 9 starts).
