Manchester City are planning to go ahead with contract talks with Leroy Sane despite an indifferent start to the season, reports The Sun.
Sane played an integral part in City’s title-winning campaign last season and was named the PFA Young Player of the Year as a result.
Despite playing a direct hand in 25 goals in Premier League last term, the 22-year-old was controversially axed from Germany’s 2018 World Cup squad.
Sane started the season out of favour at City and head coach Pep Guardiola subsequently questioned his attitude.
He has only started three Premier League games as a result but he has shown in recent outings that he is rediscovering his best form.
Sane has three years left to run on his existing £65,000-a-week contract but City want to reward the German with a new long-term deal.
Since the start of last season, Sane has provided the most assists in the Premier League (17).
