Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is exploring a third move for Fernando Llorente in the space of 12 months, reports The Independent.
Conte is desperate to sign another striker to ease the goalscoring burden on Alvaro Morata and the Blues have already approached West Ham about Andy Carroll.
However, it has now emerged that the Italian would prefer to reunite with Llorente at Stamford Bridge as the 32-year-old would be a cheaper alternative to Carroll.
Llorente was expected to join Chelsea in the summer only for Tottenham to steal in and complete a £12m deal with Swansea.
Mauricio Pochettino has praised Llorente’s influence in the dressing room but things haven’t gone to plan on the pitch and Conte wants to try and take advantage of the situation this month.
However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and Llorente’s departure would almost certainly mean Pochettino would need to sign another striker.
The experienced Spaniard has only started one Premier League game for Tottenham this season and been forced to make 12 appearances as a substitute.
