Sunderland make audacious approach for Swansea star

Sunderland have made an audacious approach for Swansea forward Andre Ayew, according to Sky Sports.

Ayew, 26, only joined Swansea on a free at the start of the season but there have been rumours of unrest at the south Wales outfit in recent weeks.

The Ghana international, who was recently named the third best African Player of the Year, made a sensational start to life in the Premier League but has been in and out of the team in the wake of Garry Monk’s departure.

Sunderland are looking to strengthen their squad this month in order to avoid relegation and have reportedly made a shock approach for Ayew’s services.

Swansea have already lost Jonjo Shelvey to relegation rivals Newcastle this month and losing Ayew would be detrimental to their chances of beating the drop.

Since the start of the season, only three players have scored more headed goals in the Premier League than Ayew (3) and no Swansea player has scored more league goals (7).
